It has been widely reported that DJ Khaled is not happy with the #2 placement of his Father of Asahd album on Billboard. Last week, he posted a cryptic Instagram video that fans speculated was directed at Tyler the Creator, whose IGOR album went #1 on Billboard. Today, Page Six reported that Khaled’s anger is now taking the form of a massive lawsuit against the company.
Khaled claims that Billboard discounted some of his sales due to his marketing tact of using bundle deals. Khaled sold his album in an energy drink bundle deal, which increases first week album numbers through merch sales.
According to Page Six, Khaled appealed to Billboard, but Billboard, apparently did not agree with his claims. Khaled is alleging that Billboard misreported his sales by 100,000 units. Tyler the Creator’s IGOR logged 165,000 albums sold, with Khaled’s Father of Asahd logging 137,000.
